The Foundation

June 29th is a grounding, centering full moon in Capricorn.

Capricorn is a very industrious energy. It’s known for its steadfast, determined, and pragmatic nature. Capricorn is the goat that climbs to the top of the mountain, no matter how high or how long it takes. Capricorn is mature and responsible.

Capricorn is associated with strategy, structure, ambition, and consistency. It’s more responsible and less emotional. It’s driven by purpose and patience. Capricorn is a sign and energy that initiates and sustains based on experience. They build from wisdom gained through tenacity and responsibility. It’s a sign associated with systems, boundaries, and legacy.

When the moon is in Capricorn, we are more tuned into the practicality of our lives. We can sense what is working and what is not. We are more perceptive of what is necessary to accomplish our goals, and what won’t help us get there.

Opposite the moon is the Sun in Cancer. Cancer is intuitive and caring. It’s our sense of home and emotional security. The sun in Cancer brings our conscious attention to the people, places, and things that make us feel comfortable and safe.

This Capricorn full moon is illuminating where our attachment to safety may be inhibiting our ability to accomplish our goals. It’s shining a light on how we are using our time, energy, and resources, and asking us to evaluate whether we’re acting out of determination or fear.

Cosmic Dance

The Cosmic Dance

This moon is ruled by Saturn. Saturn teaches through restraint and structure. Saturn is the planet that requires time, consistency, and tenacity. It’s known as the lord of karma. This is because it reflects the results of our actions in the 3d. The consequences of our choices and actions, for better or worse.

Saturn is currently in Aries, where it’s in a T-square with both the Sun and the Moon. Saturn’s placement in Aries means it’s helping us to intelligently build something new in our lives. Some new sense of self-identity. The T-square with the sun and moon is a tension between what’s still forming (Saturn), our sense of emotional security (Sun), and our technical approach to change (Capricorn).

Saturn square this moon says it’s time to analyze what is worthy of your effort as you build your new identity. What do you have time for? What is yielding results? What needs to be redirected, wrapped up, or released?

Occurring simultaneously to this new moon is Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini, squaring the nodes of the moon. Mars is our will, drive, and action. Uranus is the rebel and shock jock of the cosmos. These two planets, conjunct in Gemini, are revolutionizing how we think, communicate, and exchange with one another. It brings unexpected insights, conversations, and events that unexpectedly change our perception and direction. Their conjunction and square to the lunar nodes means that any new, unique ideas, insights, or encounters hold fated potential. Breakthroughs in our perceptions and communication, and our ability to act on them, WILL ultimately shift our destiny.

Occurring in the same time window as the Cancer New Moon is Mercury stationing retrograde, also in Cancer, in conjunction with Jupiter. Mercury is how we think and speak. Jupiter is higher, expanded wisdom. Mercury’s time in Cancer is helping us to intellectualize our emotional needs. Jupiter has helped us to gain a higher understanding of our emotional patterns. Where they come from, how they inform our lives.

Mercury’s retrograde, just as it connects with Jupiter, is giving us the opportunity to reflect on our old ideas and stories of emotional security and see where they have evolved. Has your sense of emotional safety expanded? The moon highlights what can be accomplished in light of that expansion.

Finally, in the background of the Capricorn Full Moon, a basket is forming between Jupiter (which moves into Leo just hours after the full moon), Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries, and Pluto in Aquarius. This basket is like a hammock of transformational encouragement and support. It’s a blend of harmonious aspects that create a cradle-like formation in the chart. The planets involved help us to dream, break through, expand, and transform. They’re all in fire and air and mutable and cardinal signs, which means we are cosmically supported in our process of initiation and change. The basket is like a net below us as we take the first, unknown steps in a new direction.

To blend this all together, this Capricorn full moon presents the opportunity to reflect on our responsibilities and commitments. Are they helping us to grow and expand? Do they support our goals and new life direction? Do they reflect who we are becoming or who we have been? Do we need to redirect or make adjustments? If not, great! Keep the steady commitment towards your goals. If yes, use the awareness this full moon is illuminating to refine your efforts. These changes are written in the stars.

Journal Prompts

  1. Where in my life am I choosing safety and comfort over genuine growth, and is that choice coming from wisdom or from fear?

  2. What responsibilities or commitments in my life feel aligned with who I'm becoming, and which ones feel like they belong to who I used to be? How can I reallocate my time and energy to accomplish my goals?

  3. What unexpected insight, conversation, or shift in perspective has recently changed my direction, and how can I trust and implement that change rather than resist it?

Rituals

Rituals

6/29/26 4:56pm - Ways to work with this full moon

Moon Water: The Moon has a rhythmic relationship with the waters of our planet and our bodies. Water facilitates connection and is the carrier of emotion.

Fill a clear jar with water and hold it in both hands as you mindfully speak your new moon affirmation or intentions to the water. Place the water outside or near a window where it can receive the moons presence overnight. Drink your moon water with conscious intention of bringing life and connection to the seeds you've planted with the new moon.

Earth Wisdom: Capricorn is Cardinal, Earth, Feminine energy. This means it’s capable, steady, and receptive. This is a great full moon to ground and gain perspective with.

Capricorn’s cardinal energy initiates action, while its earth element calls for something tangible and physical. Find a hill, staircase, or even just a walking path, and as you climb or walk, mentally list the responsibilities, goals, or commitments that no longer serve who you're becoming. With each step, silently release one. At the highest point you reach, pause, look outward, and speak aloud what you're ready to build instead.
