Moon Phase

The Foundation

April 17th, we have the most potent New Moon of the entire year in Aries.

Aries is bold, courageous energy. It’s known for being direct, aggressive, and ambitious in nature. Pisces is highly energetic and capable of profound initiation. Aries symbolically represents the ram and the first spark of life. It’s the beginning of the zodiac and of our individual self-identity.

Aries is associated with willpower, momentum, and vitality. It’s impulsive and self-focused. It’s instinctive and excitable. Aries is driven by possibility and challenge. Aries is a sign and energy that is blunt and willful. Aries individuals tend to act instinctively and in a self-oriented manner. They want what they want when they want it, unapologetically. They are great at initiation, but not-so-good with follow-through. That’s not their job. It’s the beginning of the hero’s journey.

Aries is commonly associated with roles that require courage, will, and energy - military, athletes, and firefighters. With maturity, Aries can make great leaders.

This Aries new moon is one of the most potent new moons and cosmic "moments" of the entire year. It’s not asking…, but instead, it’s pushing you to initiate what can no longer be ignored. You have enthusiasm and momentum on your side. It’s time to tap into your courage and utilize your willpower to start anew.

Whatever you are being pushed to initiate has been percolating for some time. This new concept of self-identity first surfaced last summer, July through September, when Neptune and Saturn made their first dip into Aries. It then reawakened in February when these planets officially ingressed and conjoined in the fiery sign to stay for the next few years. Since this meeting in February, we’ve been clearing out the old ideas, habits, and relationships that can’t support this new vision of self.

But now we’re here at the starting gate, and this Aries new moon is the starting gun. It’s time to GO!

Cosmic Dance

The Cosmic Dance

Most likely, the urge to begin is undeniable, and this is because of the immense pileup of planets ALL in Aries.

This rare stacking of energies has been happening throughout the beginning of 2026 through Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and finally with the largest stellium in Aries at the time of this new moon. This hyper focus and procession of cosmic energies has shown us what’s needed from us individually and collectively to create a more aligned, authentic, sovereign future; it’s helped us clear out energies that are unneeded or unaligned with that future, and now it’s pushing us to step into the new.

The Moon is sharing the compulsive, creative energy of Aries with seven other impactful cosmic players: the Sun, Chiron, Eris, Saturn, Mars, Mercury, and Neptune. These planets and points are all amplifying the initiation energy of Aries collectively, but also in 2 smaller stelliums.

First, we have the actual stellium of the new moon, which is comprised of the Sun, Moon, Chiron, and Eris. The Sun loves being in Aries. Its natural life-giving vitality is enhanced by the bold, initiatory energy of Aries. The moon in Aries is comfortable with challenge. It’s naturally optimistic and independent.

Chiron and Eris in Aries represent a wounded sense of self-identity and autonomy. Chiron is the wounded healer, and in Aries, is speaking to where our authentic self-expression was too much or repressed. Eris is the rejected feminine, and she shows us where we were rejected or shamed for being ourselves. Their tight conjunction with the sun and moon means this is an exceptionally vulnerable fresh start that holds immense healing potential.

If you heed the hero's call, you can use the courageous momentum of this new moon to leave behind past stories of inadequacy or rejection, and heal wounds around personal sovereignty.

The other Aries sub-stellium is between Neptune, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn. Neptune is the planet of imagination and dreams. It’s fueling the vision for our new sense of self. Neptune infuses idealism and longing into our dreams for ourselves.

Mercury is our thoughts, perceptions, and communications. In Aries, Mercury is adjusting our sense of what’s possible, changing our self-talk, and delivering the information and insights we need to proceed.

Saturn in Aries brings the necessary structure to make our new self-identity manifest. Saturn’s energy is contrary to Aries, which can make it feel like there are delays or setbacks. The path ahead will require work. Aries doesn’t want to think about that. It just wants to go. But, Saturn wants this to last, so lean into the slowdowns and let Saturn provide strategy to your vision.

Mars is the ruler of Aries. This means that it functions optimally here. It also means that it's overseeing the operations of all the other planets here. Mars is the sign of will and action. It’s assertive and confident. In Aries, Mars is igniting our drive to move forward. It’s giving us the strength to take the necessary steps to begin, and it’s cutting away resistance.

The final cosmic interplay is a sextile between the latter stellium and Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto in Aquarius empowers us to overcome our fears of authentic expression. It affirms that we serve others best when we are genuinely ourselves, so go for it.

In Summary, this Aries New Moon is the most powerful opening you will have for years to actualize your new sense of self-identity.

Now is the time! Try. Begin. Do. Be courageous. Be direct. Take action to become your ideal.

Rituals

Moon Water: The Moon has a rhythmic relationship with the waters of our planet and our bodies. Water facilitates connection and is the carrier of emotion.

Fill a clear jar with water and hold it in both hands as you mindfully speak your new moon affirmation or intentions to the water. Place the water outside or near a window where it can receive the moon’s presence overnight. Drink your moon water with conscious intention of bringing life and connection to the seeds you've planted with the new moon.

Fire Wisdom: Aries is Cardinal, Fire, Masculine energy. This means it’s associated with initiation and action. Aries is also associated with the physical body, muscles, and strength.

Choose a physical posture that cultivates intense heat and sensation in the body- examples: plank, deep wall sit, or the warrior poses in yoga. Choose a challenging length of time to engage in this activity- 30 seconds to a minute minimum.

As you hold this posture, repeat your affirmation out loud. Do this every day for the next 2 weeks. For extra fire, light a red candle and train your focus on the candle as you hold your posture and say your affirmation.
